Jose Macasinag is a queer Filipino media artist based in Mohkinstsis (Calgary), He is an interdisciplinary  artist engaging with media art, sculpture, craft, and performance. His work explores our ecological connections through anthropomorphism and humour. Constantly advocating for the natural world and highlights interdependence between human and natural systems, creating immersive environments that deepen ecological awareness and interdependence.

 

He has been involved with the creation of public art installations with STEPS Public Art, Chinook Blast, and N!ght L!ght festival. Recently he also co-produced an experimental performance during L!VE Biennial 2023 in Vancouver. 

Jose may be observed in the evening hours creating temporary light installations, outside industrial and transient spaces within the Calgary Area.
