Mystic Woods was an installation at Memorial Park Library, where spirited animals and glittering flora dance with the wind in nocturnal landscapes. Elk, Dolphins, Salmon, Bison, and other animals come alive as friends in a magical night.
Each character within this animation is an important keystone species in the west coast and prairies. having a role as habitat builders.
The wood bison creating meadows from their wallowing behaviour giving rise to important spring plants for pollinators. The elk spreading spreading seeds through their diet, A Blue heron whose presence indicates a healthy wetland environment and the Beaver that creates it.
Most importantly the Salmon that spawn during the fall months ensuring a return of nutrients to the forest spread by their common predators such as the Bear and Wolves.
This Video work was presented at Night Light Festival from September 25-27, 2025. On the west facade of the Memorial Park library in downtown Calgary.
